City adopts 2023/2024 budget

In a special meeting held downtown last week, the Madera City Council adopted the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

In a presentation given by Mike Lima, Director of Financial Services, the City Council listened to an overview of some of the key changes to one of Madera’s largest budgets in history during a special meeting Thursday evening.

In his presentation, Lima recapped the $196.4 million total budget with apprised appropriations of $80.8 million (69.9 percent higher than previous year) to the Council, bringing to their attention some key differences from previous years. The primary reason for increase being a change in the way it is presented. This year now includes projects and funds rolled over from the previous budgets.
