In recognition of National Crime Victims’ Week, the Community Action Partnership of Madera County will host a few events.

This year’s theme for Victims’ Rights Week is Rights, Access, Equity, for all victims. The theme underscores the importance of helping crime survivors find justice by enforcing victims’ rights, expanding access to services, and ensuring equity and inclusion for all.

The first event will be Walk-A-Mile in her shoes today, virtually. Registration can be done online at CAPMC Victim Services. The virtual walk will begin at noon.

CAPMC will also host Denim Day on Wednesday where participating businesses will allow employees to wear denim in support of sexual assault victims.

CAPMC will host an intimate awards ceremony to recognize professionals and volunteers who have supported victim rights.

The big event will be a viewing of a memorial display of victims whose lives were taken too soon.

In 2003, CAPMC created a memorial quilt to honor victims whose lives were taken too soon by crime. However, over the years, the department transitioned the quilt to a memorial display as the number of individuals increased in Madera County.

On Sunday, from 2-5 p.m., and on Wednesday, from 5-8 p.m., CAPMC-Victim Services Department will host the memorial display at the CAPMC Courtyard (1225 Gill Avenue).

CAPMC invites the community to join them to pay respect to those that have passed too soon.
