Candidate filing period opens for General Election

The candidate filing period for the November 3, Consolidated General Election opened on Monday,, and will continue through August 7 at 5 p.m.

Candidates should visit www.votemadera.com, and click the “Schedule Candidate Filing Appointment” button at the top of the homepage to schedule an appointment. Appointments are required and walk-ins will not be accepted.

• July 13-August 7 — Nomination and Declaration of Candidacy Period

• August 8-12 — Extended Nomination and Declaration of Candidacy Period (Extends only if an incumbent fails to file by deadline. Does not apply to an office for which there is no incumbent)

Candidates for city offices are required to obtain nomination signatures from registered voters as part of their qualification to run for office.

For additional information, contact the Elections Division. Pursuant to Elections Code Section 10515, if there is an insufficient number of nominees, the supervising authority shall make appointments.
