Madera sheriff’s office prepares for next big storm
Madera County Sheriff and Madera County Office of Emergency Services director Tyson Pogue has issued a local state of emergency for Madera County from the impact of the recent storm and the expected impact from the upcoming storm.
“We’ve been hit with compounding storm systems,” Pogue told the Madera County Board of Supervisors at Tuesday’s meeting. “The last three systems have brought record-breaking snowfall to our mountain communities. These conditions have resulted in evacuations, blocked roadways, power outages, collapsed building and snow accumulations to the likes we have never seen. Clearly this incident, and the next, heavily impacts our water ways and roads.”
The Supervisors ratified the proclamation pertaining to a local state of emergency by a 4-0 vote (Supervisor Robert Poythress was absent).
