Community art show set for Oct. 6

Graffiti art will be drawn on wood panels and other works displayed from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 6 during a First Friday Art Show sponsored by Madera Youth Leaders and local artist Vicente Velazquez.

There will also be a Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) altar arranged and exhibited by Frente Indigena de Oaxaquenos Binacional. Music and food are planned as well.

The free and public show will be at Zocalo Madera, a public art space for youth in downtown Madera, 126 N. B St.

“Zocalo Madera connects community through art in way that highlights community culture and brings youth together to learn from each other, explore the larger world around them and exercise transformative agency to improve the place they live,” said Mark Colley, community outreach coordinator for Madera Coalition for Community Justice.
