Arrest made in arson fires

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office announced an arrest of the suspect in the Deadwood Mountain Arson Series by CALFIRE Madera Mariposa Merced Unit, with the assistance of Madera County Sheriff’s Investigators.

Around 10:43 p.m., on July 19, CALFIRE MMU responded, along with units from the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, to a report of a fire on Deadwood Mountain, overlooking Oakhurst.

Once fire suppression efforts were successful, CALFIRE Law Enforcement began their investigation into the source of the fire, and contacted Pao Xiong, 68 of Oakhurst, who lived on the property where the fire had started.
