There is some talk going around about making a bull the mascot of the new Matilda Torres High School. I like that idea, and I would like to propose taking it one step further. Why not encourage Ginger Latimer to put together a play about a bullfight and perform it on opening day?

It would be great! Larry Latimer could build a makeshift arena on the football field and invite the community. I’ll bet they would get a sell-out crowd.

And the best thing about it would be that Ginger would not have to reinvent the wheel to write the script. All she would have to do would be to read a little history and see how Madera put on an “authentic” bullfight at the turn of the 20th century. Here is how it went, straight from the pages of The Madera Tribune.
