Water safety poster contest now open

Local students can share about canal safety through art in Madera Irrigation District’s Canal Safety Poster Contest, which will accept submissions through Dec. 1.

The contest is open to kindergarten through 6th grade students in Madera County. A parent or guardian must provide permission as the submission becomes the property of MID.

Submitted posters must be between 8 1/2 by 11 inches to 22 by 28 inches, and highlight how to be safe near water and canals. All art must be original. Students may use any medium, including construction paper, crayons, markers, water colors or any other materials.

All entries must be handed in or postmarked by Dec. 1 to Andrea Sandoval, 12152 Road 28 ¼, Madera CA 93637. Only one entry per student.

For information, call Sandoval at 673-3514, ext. 215.
