FRESNO — Three Madera-area schools will be sending teams to this week’s CIF State Cross Country Championships at Woodward Park.

The Matilda Torres boys team easily won the Div. II Central Section title for its fourth straight championship at Thursday’s Central Section Cross Country Championships at Woodward Park.

“It’s great to make to it to State after winning the championship,” head coach Jose Herrera said. “That’s the thing that you work hard for all summer, all season. You try to reach for the State meet. I tell the boys you want to have your goals high, to make sure you work as hard as you can to get on the podium. When you do that, everything comes naturally.”
