Welcome to Nancy’s Corner

Now that the election is over, let’s settle down and be civil toward one another. It is a right and a privilege to vote for whatever candidate you wish, and in this country we have the right to express our opinions. It is important for us to remember to speak our minds without hatred in our hearts.

If your candidate won, I know that is a wonderful feeling for you. Continue to support that person. Don’t stop just because the election is over. If the candidate who won was not your candidate, support him/her anyway. Encourage the elected officials to remember they are elected to represent the people and not to represent themselves.

Every candidate is a winner, whether or not they got the most votes. I think every candidate enters an election with the desire to make the community better. Now it’s time to join our efforts in accomplishing that goal.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Nancy Simpson, and I have been working for The Madera Tribune for about a year and a half. I asked our editor and publisher, Chuck Doud, if I could have a section of the paper to provide some entertainment and tidbits for you. So, this is my first attempt. I hope you will view this section as an inspiration, or at least as an opportunity for a smile.

I have lived in Madera in the same house for 27 years, and I expect to live in that house for at least another 27 years. I hate moving, so I tell everyone that my next move will be in a pine box. I love Madera and the neighborhood where I live.

In this section of The Madera Tribune, I plan to share with you some stories and experiences from my life. I will introduce to you some of the people who have influenced my life; some of them are a part of my life today. You may recognize a few of them from your own neighborhoods. Some of the stories will be about folks who have passed away, but who remain in my heart forever. I have many, many fond memories of friends and family members!

I have been tremendously blessed in my life with people who have loved and accepted me and who have provided me with inspiration, encouragement, and support. I hope that I may be the person who can pay forward and pass on to others some of the blessings I have received.

So, enjoy what I have to share with you, through my articles, puzzles, recipes, pictures, contests, and whatever else I decide to add to this section. Give me some feedback and suggestions. I’d love to hear from you. You may write me at nancys@maderatribune.net
