Madera Police Department officers responded to a shooting that occurred on Georgia Lane on Saturday.

During the investigation, it was discovered that a male subject intentionally fired several rounds into an apartment. At the time of the shooting, a family with small children were inside. Thankfully, nobody was shot or killed.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) took over the case, and immediately started working leads. MPD detectives identified the suspect as 26-year-old Andrew Murillo. He is no stranger to the Special Investigations Unit, and has history involving gang crimes. Murillo is a convicted felon, and is currently on Post Release County Supervision for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
