On Sept. 24, 1989, the remains of an unidentified female were located in a rural area of Madera County.

At the time of the discovery, the woman could not be positively identified. The case remained open, and was periodically reviewed over the years by detectives.

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office is reaching out to the public with a rendering of Jane Doe in the hopes a friend or family member of the victim may recognize and help the MCSO identify her.
