Pedestrian dies after getting struck

Madera Police Officers were dispatched to Vineyard Avenue and E 6th Street for a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.

When officers arrived Saturday evening at about 6:50 p.m., they determined a vehicle driving eastbound on Sixth Street briefly stopped at the stop sign at Vineyard Avenue.

The driver proceeded through the intersection as a pedestrian was walking northbound in the west crosswalk of the intersection. The driver struck the pedestrian and stopped shortly after.
