A Madera man was arrested Sunday in front of startled customers on the Starbucks patio on Howard Road about 3:30 Sunday afternoon, according to the Madera Police Department.

Officers attempted first to speak with him, but ended up arresting John Santana, 36, on felony charges of making threats against his former girlfriend, after he began to resist and then attempted to fight with them. Multiple officers responded to the fight and ended up placing Santana on the concrete where he continued to resist arrest. A police officer sustained multiple injuries in the process. Santana was not injured and was booked into Madera County jail where he faces multiple felony charges, including battery on a peace officer.
