Letters: Myopic

There is a real problem today with persons not wanting to see the complete point of an issue. This is not new, but I believe it’s getting very much worse. Maybe this is because there is so much news available today and so many ways to see it. And also, most of the news is slanted towards the viewer or reader, the customer, who is looking for it. This increases the viewership and readership, that increases the value for news service via the advertiser’s dollars. It also reflects the presenter’s view point and agenda.

And what news service doesn’t have a political agenda? The same thing happens with polling and surveys. The originator most often has a desired result, and the questions lead the respondent to give the hoped for results. Am I wrong here with any of this so far? I don’t think so.

So, how does one become myopic? Maybe it’s caused by information overload with a dose of disappointment and unrealized extreme anger.
