Madera County Arts Council will host a public reception for the exhibit “Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts” at the Circle Gallery in Madera on Thursday starting at 5 p.m.at the council’s Circle Gallery (424 N. Gateway Drive). Admission is free. CDC Guidelines will be in place.
The exhibit and competition was first launched in 1994 and was created to “promote a broader interest in and understanding of agriculture as an industry.” Now it its 28th year, “Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts” has proven to be one of the Arts Council’s most popular shows.
“As in years past, this show is being juried and prize money is being awarded,” said Madera County Arts Council board president Dr. Dianne Rich. “With first place and second place in five different categories, plus a Best of Show award, we are giving away $3,000 in prize money.”
In addition, the Arts Council will present a special dinner party and fundraiser on Sept. 17 at the home of Jim and Tina Unti. The dinner will feature a variety of small plates and entrée options, showcasing California’s agricultural products served throughout the evening, plus specially homebaked desserts. The cost is $125 per person.
Madera County Arts Council executive director Jim Kocher added, “We are thrilled that the Untis have opened up their home for this very special event. It’s a great way for us to celebrate art and agriculture in a way that is very much a Madera tradition.”
“Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts” will be on display in the Circle Gallery, Sept. 9 through Oct. 22. Hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
