It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of J. Gary Adams, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, teacher, and friend, on March 24. Gary was born on January 9, 1938, in the close-knit community of St. Ignace, Michigan, to Earl and Olive Adams. Raised with strong values and an enduring love for the simple joys of life, Gary’s journey was one of dedication, love, and laughter.

Gary graduated from La Salle High School in St. Ignace, where he first discovered his passion for education and sports. He went on to have an illustrious career as a high school teacher, middle school counselor, and elementary school principal, impacting countless lives in Niles, Michigan, and Madera, California. Beyond the classroom, Gary was a devoted coach, guiding young athletes in his hometown and the schools where he worked, leaving an indelible mark on the sports programs he cherished.

Adams spent 26 years as a teacher and administrator in Madera. He was also a member of the Madera Unified School District Board of Trustees for two terms. He was an invaluable tutor to many teachers and administrators.
