Madera Police Department Officer Gaige Bonderer was on patrol when he observed a vehicle performing “donuts” and driving recklessly in the area of Merced Street and Kennedy Street.
The driver was arrested Monday night for reckless driving, and booked into the Madera County Jail. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Reckless driving creates a significant risk for everyone on the roadway, including other drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and nearby residents. These actions can quickly lead to serious traffic collisions, injuries, property damage, and even loss of life.
In addition to this arrest, the Madera Police Department conducted two separate traffic enforcement operations through the weekend focused on improving roadway safety.
On May 30, officers conducted 74 traffic stops, issued 50 citations, and made one DUI arrest. This operation was in partnership with Madera CHP, who also netted multiple DUI arrests.
Enforcement efforts continued on Sunday, resulting in 18 additional citations for speeding and other violations commonly associated with traffic collisions.
