For the first time in four years, CASA Fresno and Madera (Court Appointed Special Advocates) hosted a swearing-in ceremony for new advocates with Madera County Judge Thomas Bender.

Bender swore in nine new advocates for CASA during a Thursday ceremony at the Madera County Courthouse.

“It was very special,” said Carmina Ramos, lead advocate supervisor/outreach specialist in Madera for CASA. “It was something that really motivates you to keep working hard to keep getting these advocates. We know that each individual is going to serve a child in need. In Madera, a lot of people don’t know what CASA does. They don’t have to drive all the way to Fresno to train. They do it in Madera and get sworn in. This swearing in was very important. Judge Bender is a big supporter of CASA.
