Less than a month after Ristorante Gabriela’s closed its doors at 1643 N Schnoor St. Ste 109, Sapore D’Italia opened up in the same place with their take on Italian food, and the owner is no stranger to Madera restaurants.

Tomas Gonzalez, owner of El Epazote Mexican Restaurant (corner of Gateway and 4th Street) hosted a ribbon cutting last month to many family and guests.

“I was surprised by how many people came out,” Gonzalez said. “I liked it. The community was waiting for us. They were sad Gabriela was leaving, but they know they have another good place to come and enjoy.”
