George Washington Elementary School, a Bilingual Heritage Language (Dual Language Immersion) School, has been recognized by Solution Tree as a Promising Practices Professional Learning Community (PLC) at Work® for its early success in improving student achievement. The school’s strong commitment to the PLC at Work process has been a key driver in making a visible, positive impact on student learning in both English and Spanish.
PLCs are built on the belief that the best way to improve student learning is through continuous, job-embedded professional learning for educators. The PLC at Work model is grounded in three core principles: a focus on learning, a collaborative culture, and a results-driven approach.
Promising Practices schools are selected based on their ability to build a strong foundation in these principles, sustain implementation for one to two years, and demonstrate measurable improvement in student outcomes. Schools must also document their strategies, structures, and cultural shifts for review by the PLC Review Committee.
