The new King Husein School in the Madera Unified School District officially opened Friday to students.

The school will serve from TK to eighth grade students.

The school is named after King Husein, the owner of Span Construction and Engineering. He donated the 50 acres of land the school sits on.

King Husein School will have about 1,000 students in its first year in 10 buildings.

Some of the highlights of the school include an outdoor amphitheater and a covered outdoor basketball court.

MUSD will host a ribbon cutting ceremony in the near future to highlight the new facility.
