CHP makes high-speed chase arrest

Multiple callers reported a street takeover on SR-145, at Avenue 7 on July 27 just before 8 p.m. Approximately 30 vehicles were reported to be blocking the intersection, along with numerous spectators. A black Jeep Grand Cherokee was observed driving reckless, and a traffic stop was attempted.

Torres readies for annual dinner

They bid $1,270 for the jersey at last year’s Toros’ Football Kick-Off Dinner at the Madera Municipal Golf Course. Their grandson, Amani Sua, was an integral part of that team. This year’s dinner will be Friday at the golf course. 

The Matilda Torres Toros football team will host its annual Kick-Off fundraising dinner Friday at the Madera Municipal Golf Course banquet room. The dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails and the dinner begins at 6:30 p.m with tri-tip, chicken, rice and vegetables. Tickets are $60 per person and $550 for a table.
