A California Highway Patrol Madera officer stopped a driver in Madera traveling 110 mph, in a 65 mph zone, on SR-99.
Inside the vehicle, the officer found two children, ages 3 and 5, who were not restrained.
The Madera CHP issued the following statement:
“When you combine excessive speed with unrestrained children, you’re gambling with lives. The outcome of a crash at that speed can be devastating. Children depend on adults to make safe decisions. They can’t ask you to slow down. They can’t buckle themselves correctly. Their safety is in your hands every time you drive. Every parent has the power to make one simple decision before turning the key: Slow down and buckle every child correctly. Nothing is more important than getting your family home safely.”
