Summer is time for corn

I have never had any luck growing corn, but I sure kept trying and trying. Most likely, the problem was the ears were not getting pollinated properly.

I used to grow it in a straight row, before I learned that it should be planted in blocks or clusters. Now, I try to buy corn from Fresno State’s ag program.

Many summer dinners consisted of a platter of corn-on-the-cob and sandwiches made from local farm beefsteak tomatoes, with a slice of red onion and a little bit of mayonnaise and salt and pepper. For the corn, we just used butter and salt.
