Madera County Sheriff Deputies responded to a theft in progress at Vulcan Materials on Highway 145 near the 41 on Monday.
Upon arrival, Deputies witnessed the suspect, 54-year-old Martin Rushing, driving a skid steer, and trying to flee the scene.
After multiple failed attempts to drive over dirt berms, Deputies safely took him into custody at gunpoint.
