George “Buddy” Marquez was born Aug. 5,1946 in Saco, Montana. He passed away peacefully on Aug. 29, 2026, surrounded by family at the age of 80.
He came to Madera, CA, from Saco, MT, in 1957 where he graduated from Madera High School in 1965. After high school he joined the Army and served from 1967-1969. George worked as a truck driver for many years. He was also a member of St. Joachim Catholic Church.
George enjoyed spending time with his family, going camping, fishing, and hunting.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ray and Mildred Marquez, his wife Margaret Marquez, sons Mark Marquez, and Jeff Marquez.
George is survived by his sister Darlene Marquez Hurtado (Freddy), his son Steve Marquez (Veronica), daughters Sally Marquez, Jennifer Umunna (Nate), twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m., with Recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m., at Jay Chapel, 1121 Roberts Avenue, Madera, CA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 11:30 AM at St. Jochim Catholic Church, Madera, CA with the interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Madera, CA.
