Although the calendar hasn’t turned to March, baseball season is upon us and the Madera South Stallions rallied twice to force a tie before darkness set in to begin their season.
The Stallions scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie their game with the Sunnyside-Fresno Wildcats at five and then scored a run in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game again before it was called because of darkness at Eddie Chapa Field.
In a game that saw three balks called, 11 errors committed, 18 hits, 12 runners left on base and six unearned runs, Stallions head coach John Fernandez knows his team has a lot of work to do.
Ezekiel Gallardo led the Stallions with three hits and drove in two runs. Donovan Bertoncini, Christian Ochoa, Romano Gallardo and Aaron Vallez each had two hits.
