Shoplifting cases are all too common in the Central Valley, and Madera is not immune to that.
The Madera Police Department takes these crimes seriously, and do all they can within the confines of the law to hold people accountable for retail theft.
But sometimes, suspects escalate a simple shoplifting case, which usually ends in a ticket, into a serious felony charge in which there is a threat to law abiding citizens.
