The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), along with Security Paving, announced a planned lane shift for northbound State Route 99, just south of Avenue 12, in Madera County.
What was planned for a change on April 8, the lane shift has been pushed back to at least April 12, but could be pushed back because of rain this weekend.
The following will occur for northbound State Route 99: Starting the morning of April 8, the northbound lanes will be closed for most of the remainder of the year. The northbound off-ramp to Avenue 12 will be closed for at least six months. The two lanes for northbound traffic will be switched over to the new southbound bridge. The new traffic pattern is needed for crews to begin removing the northbound bridges and construct the new northbound pavement. Traffic signs warning drivers about the traffic shift will be in place.
