Opinion: November heartbreak

Some 60 years ago, the United States experienced a tragedy remembered by nearly every person alive at that time. On Nov. 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was gunned down as his motorcade passed through Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas.

The country came to a virtual standstill as a grief-stricken nation tried to make sense of this horrific incident.

I was in the third grade. An announcement came over the school intercom system and the children were sent outside for recess.
