MUSD offers winter learning experience

This winter break Madera Unified will be offering, for the first time, a unique hands-on, engaging learning experience for its TK-8th grade students.

This week, MUSD students will be able to participate in several classes that will teach them about science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), legos robotics, visual and performing arts and more.

“During the pandemic, students were somewhat isolated from their peers and missed out on a lot of social interaction,” MUSD Expanded Learning Program Coordinator Suzanne Dudney said. “We designed these classes to provide them with an opportunity to interact with other students while engaging in fun learning activities. This is a great alternative to staying home for these five days.”

In addition, MUSD has partnered with a number of groups such as the Madera County Arts Council, First Tee of Fresno, WorkED, California Teaching Fellows Foundation and the San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust to help enhance the fun winter learning experience.

To also get the school district’s high school students involved, Work ED has hired 40 high school students to work as teaching assistants during the winter intersession.
