Letters: Measure T — YES or NO

First, I want to thank John Pero for his Opinion in the Tribune on September 12. It’s more than an Opinion, it’s an eye opener. Who would have guessed that an out-of-the-area group of developers were given the task of funding the new Measure T Ordinance and that the process of it being an Ordinance and not a Proposition would only require a simple majority vote to pass and not 66 percent. If I’m wrong here the, Measure T Authority should immediately clarify this in the Tribune as soon as possible.

I was not going to have an Opinion on Measure T in the Tribune, not expecting it to have the needed 66 percent Yes vote to pass.

But, with the above info, I will share that I’ve read the Ordinance and find some bothering issues. Under 9.01.05, “the Expenditure Plan, may be amended including,” followed by a list of 14 items. In 15.4, “The Expenditure Plan shall be updated by the Authority every five years… to reflect current and changing needs…” The last sentence of 15.04 does state, “must be based on findings of necessity for change by the Authority.” Trust is a growing issue right now.
