I wonder. Do I get so wrapped up in how I believe, or the opinions I have about something, that I do not realize how another person is hurting? I would always hope that is not the case, but I know as human beings, our perceptions are our own, and it is often hard for us to understand just what makes another person think like they do, when how “I feel” seems so right.
What’s happening in the world right now is disastrous, and I think we all feel that way, no matter which of the many sides of the issues we feel is right. I keep thinking, “Why can’t we all just get along?”
The answer to that question is so deep rooted in the differences we each have from one another. While we celebrate diversity, our beliefs run strong, and opinions often get so wedged into our minds that we don’t think about whether they are truly realistic, or if how we act hurts or helps. This is where opinions become destructive.
