Chowchilla’s Chief of Police, Jeffrey Palmer, made a statement to the local media regarding the sexual assault and attempted murder of a minor that occurred recently in Chowchilla.

Chief Palmer’s statement Tuesday included updates on the investigation, which resulted in the arrest of 40-year-old Arthur Dean Knapp of Chowchilla.

On August 1, officers responded to a call of a sexual assault, and attempted murder, of a minor victim in the 200 block of Washington Road in Chowchilla. The crime was committed inside of a common shared laundry room.
