VFW and Scouts hold flag retirement ceremony

Members of VFW Post 1981 and Cub Scout Pack 117 and Scout Troop 117 take part in a flag retirement ceremony.

At its regular weekly meeting Cub Scout Pack 117 and Scout Troop 117 held a Community Patriotic Flag Retirement Ceremony.

These worn and tattered U.S. Flags were given to the VFW Post by the community for proper retirement. As a tradition for Scouts, they retire these flags with the proper ceremony and dignity they require. The ceremony was held September 23.

This ceremony helps teach our youth patriotism, respect, and citizenship for our national symbol.
