When Yulissa Gonzalez-Apolonio came to the United States from Mexico in the second grade, she didn’t know English, or Spanish. She knew only Mixteco.
She overcame those difficulties, but life threw her a curveball that changed the trajectory of her life.
In 2017, when Gonzalez-Apolonio was in elementary school, her father passed away.
