Torres takes Madera County Mock Trial title

Matilda Torres High School students triumphed in the Madera County Courthouse Mock Trial Championship, defeating Yosemite High School in the final.
The case heard in the courtroom was People vs. Gold in front of Judge Ernest LiCalsi on February 13.
Students stepped into the roles of lawyers and witnesses and presented the case through opening statements, direct and cross-examinations, and closing arguments. The Mock Trial provides students with a valuable opportunity to develop critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork skills while gaining real-world experience in the legal process.
