Torres soccer routs Coyotes

Wendy Alexander/The Madera Tribune

Matilda Torres midfielder Eric Mendez sends a ball up the field during Wednesday’s victory over the Madera Coyotes. Mendez was credited with two goals, although one of the goals was a Madera own goal.

The reigning Div. V Central Section champions showed they still had something left with four first half goals in a 6-1 non-conference victory over the Madera Coyotes at Torres.

The Toros scored a goal three minutes into the match and then put the game away with a pair of late goals in last Wednesday’s victory.

Erik Mendez scored a pair of goals. Alfonso Palacios, Andres Contreras, Christian Torres and Brandon Torres added goals for the Toros. Madera’s Jose Reyes scored a goal in the 80th minute to keep the Coyotes from getting shut out.
