Torres girl’s soccer team applauded with enthusiasm

As this writer approached the Madera Unified School District Board Room last week, it looked like a protest was taking place.

There was standing room only, and the crowd was desperately attempting to reach the school board meeting.

A second look, however, showed jubilation flowing through the assembly. They were there to celebrate the girls soccer team from Matilda Torres High School. With Madera Unified School District Director of Athletics Marty Bitter at the helm, wall-to-wall admirers gave the soccer team their most enthusiastic congratulations.
