Torres fine tunes with victory

After winning its own Cen-Cal Tournament for the second year in a row, and taking a Christmas break, the Matilda Torres Toros girls basketball team kept their edge with a dominating 59-15 victory over the McLane Highlanders last Friday at Torres.

The Toros held the Highlanders scoreless in the second quarter and jumped out to a 38-4 halftime lead before invoking the fourth quarter running clock for the victory.

In the win, the Toros forced 40 turnovers with 29 steals. Torres had six players record three or more steals with J’Lynn Mitchell leading the team with six. The Toros also had 21 offensive rebounds, led by Ariana Garcia with six.
