Toros pull away for playoff win

The first two quarters of the Div. IV quarterfinal match-up were played relatively close, but the Matilda Torres Toros girls basketball team outscored the Tulare Union Tribe 23-9 in the second half for a 20-point victory.
The third-seeded Toros forced 25 Tulare turnovers and shot 40 percent from the field to hand the sixth-seeded Tribe a 54-34 loss Tuesday at Matilda Torres in a game they never trailed.
The Toros played Thursday at No. 2 Santa Ynez in the semifinals for a chance to play for the Div. IV championship next Friday.
