The Matilda Torres Toros football team is joined by the cheer squad to celebrate a 69-14 victory over Dos Palos to win the Div. IV Central Section champipnship. It’s the first Central Section (or Valley) championship in Madera Unified’s history.

DOS PALOS — Even though it didn’t need to be said, but the Matilda Torres Toros football team showed it belonged in the Div. IV Central Section Championship game after a 69-14 beating of the Dos Palos Broncos on Friday night.

The Toros scored touchdowns on their first seven possessions of the game and left no doubt after their semifinal controversy. Head coach Joseph Marquez didn’t let the distractions bother his team to win the first football championship in not only Torres history, but in the history of Madera schools.

“We worked four years for this,” said standout Joseph Bass.
