Toros freshman Trinity Anderson rises up for a kill during Wednesday’s five-set win over Golden Valley-Merced. Anderson led the Toros with 14 kills, including three in the fifth set.

The Matilda Torres Toros girls volleyball team rallied back from a tough fourth set to dominate the fifth set and defeat the Golden Valley-Merced Cougars in the Torres gym.

“We are young. Matches like these are great for their growth,” head coach Adam Horner said. “We have league starting soon, and we are capable of winning league. We scheduled a tough preseason for that reason. They are battling.”

The Toros won the first set, 25-19, but dropped the second set, 25-19. They came back to win the third set, 25-18, and looked like they were going to take the fourth set.
