Toros advance with big win

The Matilda Torres Toros baseball team took their time, but finished out a first-round Div. V Central Section playoff game with the North Stars with an 11-2 victory Tuesday at Torres.
The top-seeded Toros scored seven runs in the fourth inning and added on for the nine-run victory over the 16th-seeded Stars. Torres banged out 10 hits. Amani Sua and Aiden Medina led the offense with three hits each. Sua scored three runs and drove in run while Medina drove in two and scored two.
Joe Bass got the start on the mound and ran into control problems after the first inning. Although he didn’t allow a hit in 2 1/3 innings, he allowed two runs with seven walks, two hit batters and three wild pitches.
