Our Valley summer has finally arrived. Temperatures are high, and the long hot summer has begun.
The first six months of 2023 were a roller coaster for the mercury in the thermometer, but now the hot days are here. It looks like the forecast for the next 10 or more days will be over the “century mark” and most of us will be complaining about the heat. In fact, much of our conversations now will be about how hot it is.
As you have heard me say many times, I grew up in Florida and Georgia, and when it was hot, it was also humid. Humidity makes hot seem hotter. In high school, I remember the constant battle with the “frizzies.” Long, straight hair was the “in” hairdo, and it was a daily ordeal to get my hair to remain smooth during those days of humidity. Then, when I moved to New Orleans, the problem was much more intense.
