In an historic event, the Madera County Board of Supervisors will present its first-ever proclamation recognizing a K-9 deputy for his heroism and extraordinary bravery in the line of duty.
K-9 Deputy Obie, a member of the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, received a Purple Heart for his heroic actions during a pursuit of an armed felon in November 2024, where he sustained gunshot wounds while protecting deputies.
The proclamation celebrates Obie’s unwavering courage and dedication to public safety and service. Obie has made a miraculous recovery and continues to inspire the community with his resilience as he has now returned to the line of duty full time.
