Madera County Food Bank Executive Director Ryan McWherter announces at the weekly Madera Rotary luncheon that the food bank was a recipient of a grant worth more than $500,000 from the Board of Supervisors earlier that day. It was also a great birthday present, who celebrated his birthday last Tuesday with fellow Rotarian Gary Giersch.
In the regularly scheduled meeting for the Madera County Board of Supervisors held December 5, the board voted to grant $528,000 to the Madera County Food Bank.
During the meeting, the board also voted to enter an agreement with the California Department of Transportation to work cooperatively toward the addition of a Southbound lane along State Route 41 between SR 145 and Road 209.
Simultaneously, a cooperative agreement was entered with the department to initiate a project that would also add a Southbound lane between Avenue 15 and SR 145.
