High-ranking officials join in celebration
Two classes of Madera Method 8th graders from Eastin Arcola and La Vina schools honored Benito Juarez, one of Mexico’s most beloved Presidents, on his 218th birthday Thursday morning.
The students became interested in Juarez as a result of a study trip taken recently by several Madera educators to Oaxaca, Mexico. The kids caught the enthusiasm of the teachers and became especially intrigued with Juarez.
By March, the students had gathered up enough research facts to illustrate Juarez’ significance to the community in a birthday observance.
