Madera South quarterback Octavio Flores runs finds some running room early in Friday’s scrimmage against Firebaugh.
The Madera South Stallions football team unofficially kicked off the 2023 season against the Firebaugh Eagles last week and head coach Matt Johnson said his team is right where he thought they would be.
“We are young, but we’re a little more balanced than last year,” he said. “We didn’t take to getting hit very well. We had about two days of light hitting.”
Because of the work to get kids eligible, get paperwork done and physicals done, Johnson didn’t know who was going to be on the team until last week.
